STI Testing
& Treatment
If you are pregnant or considering abortion,
it is important to get tested.
Why Get Tested for STIs?
If you are pregnant, thinking about abortion, or sexually active (especially if you have had more than one partner) you need to be tested for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
Since many STIs show no symptoms, the best way to know if you have one is to get tested.
We offer free screenings for women for the two of the most common STIs, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. We also provide treatment at no charge to you and your partner.
Chances of Infection
If you are sexually active you are at risk for contracting STIs.
1 in 5 people in the U.S. have a sexually transmitted disease.
In the U.S. alone there are about 20 million new cases of STDs each year. 50% of those cases are among people ages 15-25. Yet, only 20% of young people report being tested within the last year.

Abortion and STIs
If you are considering abortion, it is especially important to be tested and treated for STIs prior to having an abortion. Undetected and untreated STIs can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) which can cause lifelong damage to your reproductive organs, future ectopic pregnancies, or infertility.
At Parkville Women’s Clinic we offer limited, confidential, no-cost STI testing and treatment if necessary.
Common STI Symptoms

- Discharge from vagina
- Rashes and sores on skin
- Painful urination
- Blisters, sores, and itching on or around the genitals
- Fever and headache
- Abdominal pain

Permanent damage from untreated STI’s can include:
- Chronic pelvic pain
